Reports are coming out of China today that a fully grown panda, has begun to identify as a polar bear.
Xhina has lived his whole life without the iconic eye markings that the species is famous for, and up until recently has not been affected by it.
However, locals are confirming the rumours that Xhina was recently shown a photo of a polar bear, and ever since has shown signs of acting more like his arctic cousins, presumably due to his likeness to them.
One local resident, seemingly worried for the panda's health, voiced their concerns to the town paper.
"Nobody in the town has any problem with Xhina identifying as a polar bear. It is 2020, and if that is how he feels, then he has our full support.
"One issue has arisen though. Since his transition he has lost his taste for bamboo, and seemingly is searching for seals in the local swamps. We haven't had the heart to tell him that he won't find any."
This is concerning news indeed. With the panda species already endangered, many people are now worrying for the well being of this brave animal, and are calling for the government to step up and provide the seals required for Xhina to live out the rest of his days.
Will the Chinese government react to the pleas of the nation? Only time will tell, but for now all we can do is send our best wishes to this amazing creature.
