Honest Slogans - The Future of Marketing?

Carlsberg has sponsored a Hashtag on Twitter today, #WorthATryProbably, causing a wave of reaction on the social media platform.

Whilst this new hashtag doesn't appear to be a new permanent slogan for the Danish brewer, it has certainly led us to wonder what slogans could be adopted by other companies, more specifically if they adopted honest slogans such as this one.

1). Wetherspoons

Ah, the kings of the high street pub. and a UK cultural icon. Known nationwide, and loved by all, this chain of pubs is rarely seen less than packed to the rafters with punters. This is definitely an outfit that doesn't need any fancy slogan to keep its customer base interested, and in fact, some might say that an easy to understand slogan will actually help keep its clientele coming back for more.

That should keep the punters happy!

2). Primark

Take a look around you. People everywhere right? Let's be honest, there is a 95% chance that everybody you can see owns a piece of Primark clothing. It's cheap, good (enough) quality, and British fashion at its best. But remember the number one rule of shopping at this place; deny it ever happened.

Much like with Wetherspoons, Primark can afford to be upfront and honest with its punters. As a bonus, the money they save on marketing can be put towards further cost savings and lower prices you, the consumer. A win for everyone!

Come on, admit it, that would drag you in for another £3 T-Shirt!

3). Argos

Love it or hate it, Argos has managed to position itself well in the post high street, internet shopping world we now live in. Always a weird concept, even during the height of the high street boom, there has always been something that attracts us towards this awkward setup.

Essentially, you are buying things without seeing the product. In fact, it was basically internet shopping before internet shopping was a thing.

Many is the time that we see the little lift reveal our product, battered to within an inch of its life. But hey, we've been waiting ten minutes for it to appear, so now we will just hope it's okay inside the crumpled shell of a box!

Keep it simple Argos. We will still shop with you regardless.
